Solo artistry, collaborative heart.

Yi-Hui Chen is a pianist known for her expressive artistry and versatility across solo and collaborative repertoire. With her broad collaborative skills, she has extensively performed with instrumentalists, vocalists, chamber ensembles, ballet, wind symphonies, and full orchestras across the States.

Her recent engagements include serving as collaborative pianist at Michigan State University and Central Michigan University, accompanying for MTNA competitions, serving as staff pianist and vocal coach at the Interlochen Arts Academy Summer Program, performing at the Tuba Bach chamber series, joining Richard Fracker's summer theater production, performing in the Artist-Faculty Lunar New Year Celebration in East Lansing, and presenting “Contemporary Gothic — New Music with a Haunting Twist” at Lansing's Turner-Dodge House.

She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from Michigan State University in 2022, where she studied with Deborah Moriarty and served as a Graduate Assistant. She previously completed her bachelor's degree at National Taiwan Normal University under Chun-Chieh Yen, and her master's degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying with Roberto Plano and Edward Auer. She is currently pursuing a second doctoral degree in collaborative piano at Michigan State University under Dr. Zhihua Tang.

In addition to piano, she studies organ with Haewon Jang and has performed at Alumni Chapel, Lansing Central United Methodist Church, and St. Thomas Aquinas.
